Matthew Craig is a dynamic and visionary leader with a strong background in both corporate and non-profit management. Known for his creative thinking and mission-driven focus, he specializes in crafting sustainable programs and leading teams to surpass operational and financial goals. With a passion for preservation and community development, Matthew excels at building trusting relationships with stakeholders and fostering a culture of transparency and diversity.
As the current CEO of the Young Preservationists Association of Pittsburgh, Matthew has championed the preservation of historic structures, including his successful collaboration with the National Trust for Historic Preservation which led to multi-million dollar restoration grants. He strategically leverages local, state, and federal funding to create pathways for preservation while managing a team of expert consultants to meet the unique needs of preservation partners. Matthew’s leadership extends beyond operations, as he actively engages with media outlets to amplify the organization’s mission and successes.
In addition to his non-profit leadership, Matthew founded The Magic Woods Imagination Company, where he produced an award-winning children’s television program guided by Fred Rogers. His ability to assemble and lead diverse teams resulted in a nationally distributed show that celebrated nature and friendship, further highlighting his business acumen and creative vision.
Matthew also brings a wealth of media experience from his time as Producer and Host of “The Allegheny Front” on WYEP Public Radio, where he tackled critical environmental issues and oversaw on-location projects from inception to broadcast.
Deeply committed to civic engagement, Matthew has held leadership roles in prominent cultural festivals, serving as President of the Pittsburgh Folk Festival; and the Pittsburgh Irish Festival, where he served as both Media Manager and Master of Ceremonies.
He holds an Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from the University of Notre Dame, an Economic Development Finance Professional Certification from the National Development Council, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Toledo.
