Answers to Common Questions.

YPA continues to provide valuable information to community members, advocates, and leaders regarding preservation. We encourage you to explore the FAQs below and stay connected to us as your resource for historic preservation information.

How can I become a member or start my own Young Preservation group?

Becoming a member is as simple as going to our Get Involved page and choosing a membership level that works for you. To create your own YP group please reach out to us directly so that we can specifically address your needs: info@youngpreservationists.org.

How can I get involved?

There’s an old saying that 90% of life is just showing up, and there’s great wisdom to that. We talk about how we would like to empower young people to get involved in preservation, but the truth is you already are empowered! You just need to show up. Because the more of us there are, the more amplified our message can become, and we can all preserve the great architectual heritage that our children and grandchildren deserve to be able to enjoy as the landscape of their lives.

How do I save a church/ building/ house in my community?

The best first answer is to reach out to us directly, but the longer answer is to begin a conversation in your community about what those buildings might become and how they might continue to serve your community going forward. Pouring enormous amounts of money into a building that has no sustainable purpose is never going to work, so sober judgement is needed to create a plan for repurposing the building. We can help give you the tools that you need to think about this in the right way. Remember: a building needs to earn a living.

Please reach out directly: info@youngpreservationists.org.

We hope these FAQs are helpful but please don’t be shy about reaching out at info@youngpreservationists.org if there is something that you’d like to ask us about; we’re always happy to hear from you!
